The Lake District Guide
Lake District complementary therapists & psychotherapists
The Lake District is a fine place to recover your calm, your inner poise, and perhaps even take a spa break. If you're looking for therapy treatments, whether for the mind or the body, or you want to find the right practitioner for your needs, you might start your search here.
You may discover how wonderful a deep tissue massage is after an arduous day on the fells......or maybe some other kind of treatment which will help you to get over the exertion!

Aromatherapy practitioners in the Lakes
We haven't found many reflexologists practising in the Lakes, and we'd be grateful if any more whom we don't yet know about would email their details. If you're in the Western lakes, try Angela Pollard, member of the Association of Reflexologists based near Cartmel, Holker Hall and Cark.
If you're heading further north, Tricia Brown is a member of the Association of Reflexologists, who practises in Penrith. Another qualified practitioner is Gill Haydon, who offers Reflexology and Reiki in the Brampton, Carlisle and Penrith areas.

Emotional Process Work & Shadow Work
I don't believe that there are yet any shadow work therapists living in the Lake District, but it would certainly be a great place to hold a shadow work retreat if anybody's interested! As far as I know at the moment, the focal point of shadow work, or emotional process work, is down in the south and south-west of England. There are two shadow work practitioners in Frome – Marianne Hill Shadow Work and Rod Boothroyd Shadow Work, some practitioners in Brighton, and a number of others dotted around the country. If you're interested in doing deep emotional work, then it's well worth trying at this therapy out, because it seems to work much faster than conventional psychotherapy or counselling. The essence of it is to examine the nature of your shadow, and then to use either individual coaching, or group work, to delve into a regression of the past, to find out the origin of your issues and troubles in the present-day. You then set out a scene designed to give you a different outcome to the powerlessness of what you experienced as a child, thereby transforming your expectations and self-beliefs into something more positive and more appropriate to the present day. If you're interested in fast, effective, and powerful therapeutic work, this is definitely the way to go.
