Lake District Guide Panoramas by Brian Watson Click on a link below a picture to view the cubic QuickTime Virtual Reality Movie (you need to have Quicktime installed)
I'm a retired anaesthetist in Newcastle upon Tyne, with longstanding interests in photography, computers, and motor racing. I went to race meetings in the 60s and 70s as Medical Officer, and have a collection of photographs from points the paying public could never get near! These pictures and many others are on my web site. My old motor racing movies have been viewed 60,000 times since going on YouTube six months ago. I programmed computers at work, and have now written my own web site, and spend many happy hours trying to perfect it. I enjoy making panoramic pictures, seamlessly stitching together digital images to make wide, highly detailed prints. My interest in extreme wide-angle photography has extended into making QuickTime Virtual Reality 360 degree panoramas; taking several fish-eye photographs from one point, with a panoramic tripod head to take the photographs (to avoid parallax). Viewing the resulting movie on a computer screen, you can scroll right round in any direction, even straight up and straight down, and to zoom in and out: a great way of looking round a tourist destination to see if you really want to go!
